Module II for Parents: AAC Tools and Everyday Use at Home
This module helps parents move from understanding AAC to using it every day. It presents the main symbol systems: PCS, MÓWik, Makaton, PIC and the free ARASAAC set. Parents learn to create communication books and boards, organise vocabulary into categories, and use visual schedules, “now–then” boards, choice boards and photo context boards. The module introduces participatory reading and high-tech aids such as tablets with AAC apps. Its core method is aided language stimulation: modelling on the child’s own tool in daily routines, with practical rules such as three statements for every question, and patience.
