Module IV for Teachers: Monitoring Progress and Cooperation in AAC
This module shows teachers how to track and support a student’s growth in AAC. It covers seven areas to monitor:
- how often and how spontaneously the student communicates
- communication functions
- vocabulary
- message building
- independence
- effectiveness
- social participation
Progress is tracked through observation sheets, communication logs, video recordings and data from devices. The module also explains how parents and therapists work as partners, with shared goals, regular contact and consistent strategies. It ends with good practices for aided language stimulation: modelling without demands, expanding the student’s messages, the three-to-one rule and frequent modelling throughout the day.
