Module VI for Teachers: Case Studies and Best Practices in AAC
This module turns AAC theory into classroom practice. It describes what makes AAC practice effective: it is evidence-based, centred on the person, functional and inclusive. It also sets out the key parts of successful implementation. Three case studies show AAC at work: Alex, a student with autism, uses visual schedules and core vocabulary. Maria, who has cerebral palsy, uses eye-gaze technology. Daniel, who has an intellectual disability, uses choice and emotion boards. Teachers explore best practices for inclusive classrooms, families and peers, along with common challenges and solutions. The module ends with a six-step AAC Action Plan, reflection questions, a case-analysis workshop and a self-assessment checklist.
